As the mist rolled in across the country park at the end of the event, with daylight having longsince given up the ghost, my eyes fell upon the secret tag that was number 10! At last! A tag in this game was in my grasp. But, what was this? As my hand reached forth to take hold, the tag came to life. The bat flapped it's wings, opened it's mouth and...argh! My jaw started to hurt as my teeth grew. N0hope ran to the only hope he had. He managed to get into his car and slam the door closed just before I managed to grasp at his collar. Alas, alas, alas. Instead, I was left with no other option than... ... ... ... ...to take out my phone and go in search of the nearest night cache. So long, my fellow cachers, fare thee well... Look out for me on the long dark nights as the mist rolls in...

A spooky Halloween wander in the dark with 3 other brave chiropterologists. A successful outing with all 4 little batties tracked down. Another plus it stayed dry and not too cold so an enjoyable outingðŸ‘

We zijn de laatste tijd niet meer zo vaak op een event, dat komt o.a. door Corona, het werk (ik werk vaak op zaterdag)en omdat we in het vaarseizoen in onze vrije vaak op het water zijn. Ook het snaggen van Tags blijft er bij vanwege mijn werk en de werktijden die wat anders zijn dan doorsnee. Maar nu ligt de boot weer in de stalling en is er weer eens wat ruimte voor een event. Even samen met zoonlief op sjouw , de dijk over naar een event van de Bosmannetjes. Altijd weer leuk om even bij de hoeve te komen, het is vandaag net een sprookje er staat zelfs een heks op je te wachten. En nog meer bloederige toestanden en enge figuren. De wintertijd is vandaag weer van kracht gegaan en dat merk je hier, het is vroeg donker en de vleermuizen vliegen je dan ook tegemoed. Deze keer had ik geluk dat er mij zo een vleermuis in handen vloog, gelukkig geen echte maar een prachtige tag. En ik ben er ontzettend blij mee, heel erg bedankt.

333 - Bump in the night with NFCE event tag

Vanmiddag reizen we af naar Bitgummole alwaar ons een creapy Halloween event te wachten stond. Bij binnenkomst stonden we direct oog in oog met spoken, heksen en andere enge wezens. Snel liepen we door naar de in thema versierde event ruimte. Spinnenwebben, vampiers, vleermuizen, wandelende ogen, van alles was hier te zien! We besluiten eerst te genieten van de heerlijke heksensoep, waar gelukkig geen ogen in dreven [:D]. Daarna om klokslag 6 uur barste het puzzelgeweld los nadat er een event tag online was gekomen. Enthousiast begonnen we te puzzelen en soms verloren we de moed maar toch werd doorgezet om te kijken of we de 3 puzzels konden solven. De woordpuzzel was snel opgelost en ook de sudoku volgde spoedig daarna. Maar dan de japanse blokjespuzzel, grrrr wel tot 3x toe deze getracht op te lossen. Toen het Halloween feest bijna was afgelopen waren er nog maar een paar fanatieke puzzelaars over. Ik dacht de juiste 3 letters/cijfers te pakken te hebben doch achteraf bleek, en met mij ook bij de anderen, er een foutief cijfer tussen te zitten. Hierdoor werd de tag niet geclaimd en hing er een voelbare spanning wie er met deze laatste tag vandoor ging. Om de avond toch succesvol te kunnen afsluiten werd er door de organisatie in het dankwoord voor de resterende puzzelaars een vette hint gegeven [;)] Het was nu een kwestie van supersnel proberen en kijken wie als eerste de juiste code had ingevoerd. Yesss, ik kreeg het schermpje van "Ashrael claimed tag 333" waarna ik de tag en bijbehorende coin in ontvangst mocht nemen.

Found by mini snagger at the Scottish Bump in the Night event at Chatelherault in Lanarkshire. Much head scratching and searching, pulling in some extra pairs of eyes as well, but eventually the tag was in hand. No one in the team wants to to see any more ivy for a wee while!

I have known Vimmes for a while now and we have had a few conversations about the average arms length and his. I was already at the event when the listing went up and got the nod from the wife I could ditch her and the kids to try and get this. Arriving at GZ there was a car already here. Damn I thought. The driver was in the car and thought I may have beaten for a third time in as many days. The hint I think was straight forward but how to get up there. Old stretch Armstrong stiles again. After a few face plants of jumping into the wall I was certain I touched something. A few more attempts. Attack it from behind maybe then a bit of acrobatics that I didn’t realise I had in me - one foot on the wall the other a small tree (I think I heard it cry) I managed to hoist myself up spot the bat and grabbed it. There may be a little blood but well worth it. Now back to the event. Thanks Carl.

.....eind oktober, het weekend van 30e en 31e is aangebroken en dient de Keltische variant van oudjaarsdag, Hallow-e'en oftewel All Hallows Eve, zich aan. Geocache-minnend Nederland laat dan de zoektochten naar nanos, petlings, vogelhuisjes, mooie en uitdagende creaties even achter zich en de winter begint. Om het einde van dit jaar te vieren komen zij bijeen nabij GC8MAHV, steken grote vreugdevuren aan en hebben samen plezier. Althans .......... dat denken zij. Het als goedlachse en immer vredelievende Geostelletje VanderMmeer ontwaakt in de vroege ochtenduren van de 31e oktober en in de spiegel kijkend blijken zij wederom te zijn ontpopt als psychotische seriemoordenaars. Al sinds vele, vele jaren leven zij hun sprookjeshuwelijk en hun namen, Sint HorrorKlaas en Margaretha the Mature Toverkol worden reeds in de Middeleeuwen genoemd. Op het programma staat een bezoekje aan de oudste HalloweenMarkt in de Hollandse Kroon, met zijn oorsprong in 1991 dus al 30 jaar aan de top. Hier gaan Sint HorrorKlaas en Margaretha the Mature Toverkol hun verschillende rituelen uitvoeren, waarbij zij naar alle waarschijnlijkheid willekeurige bezoekers zullen offeren. Zoals zovele plannen, haalt ook dit plan niet de finish. Nog enkele honderden meters voor de markt in Hippolytushoef schalt een schelle, alles overheersende, maar vooral hypnotiserende vrouwenstem. Een stem die wel een beetje lijkt op.....klinkt als.....dat moet zij haast wel zijn.....nee, dat kan toch helemaal niet en de gedachte dat zij Vrouwe Bosmannetje moet zijn laten Sint HorrorKlaas en Margaretha the Mature Toverkol al rap varen. Toch niet geheel overtuigd van hun gelijk mingelen zij zich onder de nietsvermoedende, argeloze, feestvierende Geocachers. Links en rechts worden zoetgevooisde, maar toch ook wel zeer aangename gesprekken aangegaan, hun optreden moet de schijn wekken dat zij dit event met goede bedoelingen aandoen, niets is minder waar, zij zijn hier om de boel te verstieren en bloed moet vloeien. Het vreugdevuur wordt gevoed met ontfutselde woodies en dit lijkt niet bij iedereen in goede aarde te vallen, pogingen om het stelletje met vergiftige koffiedrabbels en groene-prutjessoep naar het hiernamaals te verjagen lopen op niets uit. Niet zo vreemd, dat lukt de gemeenschap al enkele eeuwen niet. Van Brandstapels die vanzelf doofden, Guillotines die een enkele millimeter boven de kelen staakten tot Elektrische stoelen waarvan de spanning op het cruciale moment hun werking verloren, niets wist hen van het leven te beroven. De middag vorderde en er moest een slachtoffer vallen, een SnagTheTag te veroveren, een fraai relikwie dat precies past in de schatkamer van Hotel De Knijper. Het oude spreukenboek moest zijn krachten gaan vertonen en met name bij de dames die de waardevolle schat bewaakten. Een korte benadering, trick-or-treat, een aai over de bol en vriendelijkheid wordt geveinsd, het boek wordt kort overgedragen en zal, eenmaal in vrouwenhanden beland, zijn betoverende werking moeten gaan vertonen. Na een kort bezoek in een duistere, maar warme omgeving komt het boek weer in handen van Sint HorrorKlaas en zal het resultaat binnen enkele uren zichtbaar moeten worden. Een korte regenbui, niet eentje die de stemming wist te verpesten bij het ruim aanwezige, wisselende maar aldoor prettige, onderhoudende gezelschap en er schalde een aankondiging door de atmosfeer. Een uitreiking van diverse waardevolle kleinoden volgde, luidruchtig en ludiek. Vele verbaasde, maar vooral ook blije gezichten werden getoond en als ware het toeval, noem het geluk kwam er een rode SnagTheTag #124 in handen van Sint HorrorKlaas. Om de marteling helemaal compleet te maken volgde als klap op de vuurpijl nog een uitreiking aan Margaretha the Mature Toverkol, te weten een paarse SnagTheTag. Met een euforisch gevoel werd de thuisreis aangevangen, de relikwieën opgeborgen en helaas was er geen gelegenheid geweest om menselijk bloed te laten vloeien, daarop moeten zij nog 365 dagen ter ruste gaan (de nachten dwalen zij doelloos rond). Mark, Simone, Lisette, Mario en niet-te-vergeten Joost, dankjewel voor dit voortreffelijk GEOrganiseerde event, chapeau!!

Oh my, this all began weeks ago. Diaries were cleared and the weekend plans were hatched. The forecast was for hideous weather but that wouldn’t deter us. Last night we rushed out and in the darkness at the fort hustled around to beat others to the bat. Huge fun job done. Today we have been refreshing emails every 5 mins, then we had the call, they have been published, quick!! Called to arms we set about, then, no, they’re all in Scotland. Ok, so where might they be published? Off we went to Pevensey, that’s a good castle, maybe there? Refresh, no nothing. Ok so hanging out we finally had lunch, paid up front and continued to refresh. ITS OUT! Meal paid, we literally scarpered. Thirteen minutes. Thirteen long minutes. No footpath arghh! Running here, there, then it must be there! Thanks boys, it was fun running around and success I have my prize. But best of all, I had immense fun. More to come, bring on the night event.

3:00pm Saturday 10/30/21 Well we weren’t fast or close enough to claim a pre event tag but we did swoop up to Byron, IL for the event. Once we arrived there was an announcement. A red bat had just flown into the area they said! The attendees rushed out the door in hopes of finding it. My boys were lucky enough to capture one! * A favorite bat of mine is pictured. This was a great event I’m glad we came.

New pedestrian walk was an amazing spot for a bat. Snagged. FYI When a prospective Finder marks a tag "missing" before the actual Finder has a chance to claim it, vs the prospective writing just a "note" that he could not spot it, it seems the tag is sorta archived so it no longer can be claimed. Vandaag samen met menne maat naar dit event. Onderweg kreeg ik de uitleg uitgebreid te horen, al had ik daar uiteraard al het een en ander van gehoord Maar WoW wat een gave hints hebben we gehad op het HQ - event zaten de dames te puzzelen en wij checkte. Hun bevindingen Een paar keer grepen we mis Tja….. deze was voor kinderen maar aangezien er geen kinderen meer wakker horen te zijn En we checkte dit bij het HQ We kregen groen licht En Ja hoor daar was ie dan mijn eerste STT munt Beste Co hartelijk dank voor dit avontuur

What a rush! I’ve been watching these 9 little bats slowly fly off the map, starting last night and into the morning today. Only 1 remained after the group picture; we had been given directions to help get us to the destination quickly, and we lucked out, arriving only a minute or so before another team! Thanks for the fun and the very neat 3D printed container! We plan to hide some of tags in Dickinson during the next “event.†Sorry to have it snagged right in front of you!

So, after travelling from Cornwall and making my car into a bed we were beaten to the first bat of the evening. Trying to preempt where the second would go live, I was TOTALLY off. The race is on for the second time tonight. I have run this evening, RUN!! I wasn't even bring chased! When we get to GZ we are greeted by ChappmanGang. 3 of us in pursuit of one Bat! BigKid took himself off, as he does then I get a phone call. 'Where are you? Head in the direction I went' with no more or a hint than that. There they are...BATS!!! I have no idea how many I missed en route but I'm now on the right track. I shall call him Perri! Perri the bat is in hand and we head back to the car

Ik wist al even dat dit event eraan kwam, en gelukkig op mijn werk kunnen regelen dat ik een half uurtje eerder weg kon. Ik had mijn collega uitgelegd wat STT was, en ook dat er veel hunters aanwezig zouden zijn. Ik had ze ook al foto's laten zien van het terrein. Zegt ze: Nou, het is toch al leuk om er gewoon te zijn?!?! Uhm..... Ja en nee, ik wil echt heel graag een tag!!! Ach, ze kan er ook niks aan doen! Manlief was inmiddels geïnstrueerd om de kinderen klaar te hebben staan, want die wilden mee. Zo gezegd, zo gedaan. Omdat ik wist dat je de auto niet echt dichtbij kon parkeren, was ik met de fiets gegaan. De straten in Megen liggen open, dus met de auto is dat toch niet handig. Nou, van die beslissing heb ik wel een paar keer gebaald! Na de voorstelling van Blauwbaard door de Megense Comedie, was ik op het terrein aan het rondsnuffelen toen ik ineens iets verdachts zag. Een eng figuur met een sjaaltje met een houten label eraan. Snel kijken: een code. Even scannen: dit is tag 243, ga naar coordinaat huppeldepup. Ik kijk om me heen, niemand ziet iets! Snel de coördinaten ingevoerd: KAK! Berghem! En ik ben met de FIETS!! Geo/STT maatje gebeld waar hij was. "We staan in Berghem!! Bij tag 243!" Zucht. Nou ja hoef ik ook thuis de auto niet te gaan halen. Dan maar weer puzzelen uit het boekje. Gekozen voor Scary Mouse, daar leek nog niemand mee bezig te zijn, en wellicht had ik thuisvoordeel omdat het over de Megense Muis ging. Het duurde even voor het puzzelgroepje op dreef was. En toen, kak, we moeten het veld in voor meer info. En het regent. En de kinderen sjouwen hier nog ergens rond. Manlief gebeld, kinderen op laten halen, ik het veld in. Retedonker op de dijk, maar goed dat ik het hier ken. Al snel de benodigde info gevonden. Even langs huis voor een woodie, laarzen en de wc. Terug op het event hoor ik dat de 2e ronde aan puzzels uitgekomen is. Met Scary Mouse kwam ik even niet verder. Dan snel kijken of misschien geen makkelijke puzzel in deze ronde zit. Ik hoor een muisje fluisteren dat er een nieuwe film op het doek achter de tent vertoond wordt. Whaah!! Coördinaten!! Ik zie vrijwel meteen dat iemand ook komt kijken. Ik had echt geen tijd om een ongeziene plek te vinden, dus tja. Gekozen voor de snelste manier van noteren, zodat ik de navigatie meteen aan kon zetten. KAK!!!!! Wéér een tag in Berghem, en ik ben nog steeds met de fiets. Maar.... iedereen die hier is, moet eerst te voet naar de auto, ik ben met de fiets. Is dat genoeg tijdswinst? Samen met Tuur3luur naar huis gefiets, en de auto gepakt. Stuiterend over de drempels en schuin door de bocht komen we in Berghem aan. De navigatie stuurt je door de polder, maar de doorgaande weg rijdt sneller, handig als je hier de weg kent. Hopelijk weer tijdswinst als het andere team wel de navigatie volgt. Ook nog een wegafsluiting onderweg, ook hier weer thuisvoordeel zodat de alternatieve route snel gevonden was. Laatste stukje rennen, zoeken, zoeken, zoeken. NIKS!!! We waren net aan het bellen om de coördinaten te dubbelchecken, toen we m vonden, op de plek waar we al wel 10x gekeken hadden. Al juichend staan we te claimen, als het andere team eraan komt. Sorry! Maar ik ben echt heel blij!! Terug naar het event, even wat eten en drinken, en toen toch nog maar eens naar Scary Mouse kijken. Met een hele puzzelgroep die al voorzien was van een Tag, verder gepuzzeld om een ander te helpen. Dat maakte de avond compleet: zelf een Tag, maar ook iedereen uit het puzzelgroepje. Daar doe je het toch voor!

Zo, eindelijk thuis en dus hoogste tijd voor een log! Het Halloween weekend begon al op vrijdag, toen ik bij de Bosmannetjes op visite was. Daar kwam een tag online, maar werd gevonden door de Wild family! Daarna nog naar Friesland gereden, maar halverwege de Afsluitdijk kwam de claim binnen... Dus al twee keer mis... Zaterdagochtend gaan we vroeg op pad. In de Bosbus gaan we richting Rockanje. Daar beleven we een heuse vossenjacht, maar van alle locaties die we bezoeken, het lukte niet om een tag te bemachtigen... Dan naar Megen... Bregtje en ik spreken af dat we allebei willen jagen, maar als de ene er een heeft, helpen we de ander. We splitsen op. Zij gaat met Dennis en Mario jagen en ik ga met Heleen en Pascale van de Happy Panda's jagen. Eenmaal op het terrein gaan we aan de slag met de PDF. Maar ik ben moe, doodop van de lange dag en geen nachtrust, ik loop letterlijk als een zombi rond... Ik besluit om rond te gaan lopen en het logboek te gaan loggen. Met dat ik mijn naam in het boek schrijf, valt mijn oog op een ander boek. Zo'n uitgehold boek die we wel eens vaker treffen tijdens het geocachen. Ik kijk in het boek en vind een zakje met puzzelstukjes. En zo zie ik nog meer boeken staan. Ik ben zo blij dat ik alleen ben in de tent. Ik check alle boeken en vind in totaal 5 zakjes. Die zakjes in mijn jaszakken gepropt en toen zo onopgemerkt mogelijk terug naar de Panda's! Ik zeg tegen ze dat we onmiddellijk moeten vertrekken, want ik heb iets gevonden. We gaan gauw van het terrein af. Op zoek naar een stil plekje. We zien al gauw dat we een UV lamp nodig hebben. Terwijl een van de Panda's alvast naar de auto loopt om de lamp te halen, puzzelen we nog even verder, maar besluiten om toch naar de auto terug te lopen. Onderweg komen we Joost tegen van de organisatie. Hij vroeg me of we gingen hunten. Hij gaf me nog een tip, maar toch kwam het later pas binnen. De eerste puzzel werd gemaakt en daarmee ben ik terug gelopen naar het event, maar dat was natuurlijk niet genoeg. Van de 5 puzzels hadden we er 3 nodig, om vervolgens what 3 words te kunnen gebruiken. Na lang worstelen met de woorden en toch even een verificatie bij Joost, kwam er een logisch coördinaat. De ladder ging mee, een hengel, lampjes, en gaan! Ik was erg blij met de uitgebreide tools van de Happy Panda's! De ladder werd uitgeklapt, de petling werd gevonden. Oh... Achter ons... De ladder werd vervolgens over de sloot geplaatst en Pascale ging over. Maar de hint in de petling klopte niet helemaal en ik besloot om door de sloot heen en zoeken. Ondertussen waren Mario en Bregje ook op locatie, ter ondersteuning! Uiteindelijk de tag gevonden! Super blij, nat en koud, vol enthousiasme en blijdschap! Gauw terug naar het event, de coin halen! Pas onderweg naar het event hoorde ik dat ik werd beschuldigd van diefstal! Hahaha! Maar gelukkig kreeg ik wel de coin! Bedankt voor dit waanzinnige avontuur!

282 - Fort Fort Fort Zaterdag 30 oktober stond het 🎃🕷STT 🕸Halloween👹 🦇MegenseVleermuisEvent 🦇🎃 op het programma. Wat we kunnen verwachten? Geen idee. Of we een TAG kunnen bemachtigen? Geen idee. We schatten de kansen niet heel hoog in, aangezien er best veel mensen zich hebben aangemeld. We zullen zien. Een event is sowieso gezellig!! We vertrekken op tijd richting het event, de auto volgeladen met o.a. een e-step, waadpak, hengel, ladder en extra kleding. We besluiten om de klimspullen en de boot thuis te laten. Samen met mijn dochter pik ik nwpvr op. Iets na half vijf parkeren we de auto op het parkeerterrein. Roykuh is net iets eerder en appt dat hij ‘per ongeluk’ al een tag heeft gespot. “Wat moet ik doen?â€, is de vraag. Tja, dilemma… We geven een diplomatiek antwoord: “Doe wat jij denkt dat goed voelt.†En ondertussen denken we: “Wat een mazzelaar weer!!†Inmiddels zijn we op het event terrein, wordt de QR-code gescand en nemen we de listings door. Een kindertag (245 - Trick or Treat), daar gaan mijn dochter en ik voor. De coördinaten worden in GCBuddy gezet en ik leg haar uit wat ze moet doen en hoe GCBuddy werkt. Navigeren kan ze wel. Aangezien het een kindertag is, laat ik het haar alleen doen en blijf ik op de steen bij de grote boom zitten. Wat ik even vergeet, is dat ze mijn telefoon bij zich heeft en die van haarzelf en ik ‘vergeten’ ben om de coördinaten in m’n gps te zetten. Tja, ik kan niks en wachten duurt lang!! Uiteindelijk is het haar gelukt om 4 woodies te bemachtigen en stuur ik haar met de e-step terug naar het event terrein. Helaas is ze net te laat en grijpen we mis. Tja, part of the game. Maar we hebben wel vier leuke woodies en zij was blij dat het haar helemaal zelf is gelukt en ook blij met de snoep die ze had gekregen. Ze vond het super leuk om te doen en ach, die tag… “Ik heb wel vier woodies voor je kunnen bemachtigen.†Je had haar trotse gezicht moeten zien. Ondertussen heeft mijn cachemaatje nwpvr ook een tag weten te bemachtigen. Ik zeg tegen mezelf: “Ach, lukt het dan lukt het en zo niet dan was het in ieder geval een geslaagde dag op een leuk en gezellig event.†De zin herhaal ik tig keer in m’n hoofd. Het lijkt wel een mantra. Toch wil ik natuurlijk ook wel een tag kunnen claimen. Volgende poging is 241 - Blauwbaard. Samen met mijn dochter twee keer naar het verhaal geluisterd en wel enkele cijfers gehoord, maar m’n hoofd zat zo vol dat ik me niet goed genoeg kon focussen. Dit gaat ‘m niet worden, zucht. De moed zakt me inmiddels in m’n schoenen. Zal ik wachten op ronde 2? Gelukkig heb ik twee super fanatieke (cache/stt)maatjes. Nwpvr en Roykuh halen me over de streep om een auto multi te gaan doen. Ik sjees met de e-step naar de parking waar de auto’s staan, geef nwpvr mijn e-step, zodat hij weer terug kan. Mijn dochter is namelijk nog op het event terrein. Roykuh is mijn taxi en samen gaan we alle 12 de waypoints af. Het weer is echt slecht, het is donker en de wegen zijn smal. Crap, papier!! Gelukkig vind ik in de auto iets waarop geschreven kan worden. De hele administratie op de binnenkant van de verpakking van een batterijpakje. Als we bij wp5 zijn, begint m’n dochter ongeduldig te worden en te bellen: “Hoelang nog, denk je?†En zo gaat dat een paar keer. Gelukkig vermaakt ze zich prima, maar wil gewoon weten wanneer we weer terug zijn. Veel punten zijn goed te doen. Bij één punt is er twijfel. Dan is het rekenen, rekenen en nog eens rekenen. We komen plausibel uit en rijden naar, wat wij denken, de plek van de tag. Helaas kunnen we niks vinden. Nog een keer in de auto rekenen en kijken wat er mis is gegaan. Het regent weer. Dan wat logisch nadenken, nogmaals kijken naar waar we zeker van zijn en spelen met het wp van de twijfel. We kijken op de kaart en hebben nu een ander punt wat eigenlijk vrij dichtbij ligt. We besluiten te gaan kijken. Tja, na dik twee uur kunnen die laatste paar minuten er ook nog wel bij. Inmiddels is het weer droog. De auto wordt geparkeerd en we lopen via een trapje richting een bunker. Dit lijkt ook wel een mooie plek voor een tag. We schijnen in het rond en bedenken dat het een T3 is. Dat wordt bovenop klimmen. Het is wel wat glad, maar uiteindelijk lukt het. Jaaaaa, de tag ligt er gewoon!! Snel claimen, maar er gaat wat mis. Wellicht door de natte telefoon en de adrenaline. Ik maak snel wat foto’s en dan lopen we samen terug naar de auto, die overigens niet heel ver van de plek van de tag staat. Terwijl ik m’n telefoon droogmaak en opnieuw probeer te claimen, komt er net een auto aangereden. Het is een andere hunter. Ik klik nogmaals op op de claim knop en nu lukt het wel. Ik vind het sneu, maar dit is part of the game. Vanmiddag stonden we aan de andere zijde en grepen we net mis. Rustig aan rijden we terug naar het event terrein, waar we de rest van de avond lekker kletsen en warme chocolademelk met slagroom drinken. @hider(s): Bedankt voor het organiseren van het event en de vele STT-puzzels, -tradi’s en multi’s. By law, all Florida counties must provide for those who otherwise can not afford a place to live, a hospital for when they are sick, and/or a burial place in which they may be buried. Hillsborough County purchased a 120-acre farm in 1905 to be developed for this purpose. In 1906 a one-acre plot of this ground was reserved for use as the pauper's burial cemetery, or "Potter's Field". All graves were marked with a stone marker inscribed only with a number. Due to a fire, there are no present records of the grave site plot plans. The only list that survives contains names and death dates but not where in the cemetery/at what plot the deceased was interred. You can not drive into the cemetery so you’ll have to pull off along 22nd St. Please be careful as this is a busy street. Leuk al die Snag the Tag events met die prachtige vleermuiscoins 🦇. Gelukkig is er 1 in de buurt, in Rockanje en daar heb ik een leuke ochtend. Jammer van het mindere weer, maar gelukkig kun je op de eventlocatie droog staan. Helaas geen Tag kunnen bemachtigen. Na dit event ontstaat een spontaan plan voor het event in Megen. De tijd is alleen wat krap, want er moet ook nog gewerkt worden. Dan maar wat eerder weg. Ook hier een prachtig georganiseerd event, ik doe het jullie niet na. Als de Tags gezocht kunnen worden is het deze Blauwbaard die de aandacht trekt. Een verhaal waarin iets opvalt. Ah na nog een keer goed luisteren vallen 3 woorden op en dan volgt er een zeer plausibel coördinaat. Zou het lukken deze Tag te bemachtigen? Na een kort autoritje is daar een mooi hek en jawel, er hangt iets aan. De Tag 🦇🎉. Whoop whoop, gelukt deze vleermuis binnen te hengelen. Top, bedankt!

Arriving at GZ another car pulled up at exactly the same time, they were also after what we were! Now there were six people running around in the dark looking for a hinge at the entrance to the fort, looking at the cords it appeared we were well off and three of us wandered away to what looked like a better location, taking care on the slope we were soon happy ‘bumpers’ with the tag in hand, feeling smug but somewhat compassionate for the other guys who had to drive back with heavy hearts, more tags to find so wishing them luck in their quest, good game great fun thank you

Wauw, wij hebben dit nog nooit gedaan, dus we denken dat we het wel kunnen......Nou.... We kunnen er 1 van team zwaartjes wel heen sturen, aangezien het best een eind rijden is. En maar eens kijken wat dit gaat brengen, want voor de rest was er in Noord Holland geen vleermuis te vangen. Algauw krijg ik de pdf lijst en word het kijken wat we kunnen, en valt het oog op tazmanian devil, dat is jeugdsentiment! Eerste stap is zo gemaakt en opgelost, hop in de auto. Aangekomen op locatie nooit bedacht wat stap 2 zou zijn.... Na ruim drie kwartier klooien in het donker met een hoop tegen toch een hint bietsen.... En ja hoor, super dom, nooit over nagedacht, maar daar is stap 2.... En dan stap 3.....🤔..... Handboek al 5 x gebladerd en dan valt mijn oog erop, maar als je het dus nog nooit hebt gezien, weet je niet wat je zoekt op 131 bladzijdes code taal. Maar ineens valt mijn oog erop! En ja hoor, daar is ons vleermuis je! Gauw terug naar de auto en inwisselen op het event! Wat een super ervaring, en deze krijgt een mooi plekje thuis! Dank jullie wel voor alles! Super ervaring! Top event!!

I'm attending the Bump in the night event this afternoon in Byron...I saw there was a tag hidden in Malta. I live 3 hours away. So I left at 7 in the morning to try and snag that tag. I found the first 2 steps, then couldn't find the third. I was frustrated, but I saw this tag on the map 45 minutes away. So I hit the road and when I found it...I was so happy! Thanks for the hide!

Als fanatiek STT-er volg ik al weken alle voorbereidingen met betrekking tot de Bump The Night ronde die speciaal voor Halloween wordt gespeeld. Te winnen zijn supergave “Batty†tags en hun bijbehorende coins. Maar in vergelijking met de eerdere rondes, zijn er maar enkelen die in Nederland verstopt gaan worden. Daarvan zit het merendeel ver van huis. Dus alle pijlen richtte ik op het event in Megen. We zorgen dat we op tijd in Megen zijn en net voor de start arriveer ik bij de locatie. In het geroezemoes bij de ingang hoor ik gemengde geluiden op een eventuele hunt. Sommigen gaan voor de hunt en andere kiezen echt voor het event zelf. Met dat laatste was zeker niets mis, want het was allemaal netjes georganiseerd en er was een verwarmde tent inclusief horeca met picknicktafels waar je heerlijk kon zitten. Daarnaast liet het weer helaas te wensen over, iets waar de organisatie natuurlijk niets aan kon doen. Om 17.00uur sharp kwamen de verschillende halloween figuranten op ons afgelopen met een QR code. Die konden we scannen en daarmee hadden we een soort event-puzzle-PDF waarmee we op de tags konden hunten. Daarin zat behoorlijk wat variatie; Er waren tags voor kids, eenvoudige oppikkers al dan niet met hengel te doen, multi’s en mysteries. Ik koos voor een relatief eenvoudige puzzel. “Discover de trackables op het eventâ€, luidde de puzzel. Dat klinkt als een niet al te lastige opdracht. Bij aankomst had ik namelijk aan een waslijn reepjes gezien met zo’n 30 TB-codes. Net voordat ik aan de opdracht begon, had ik toevallig op het event de blauw/paarse event versie gekocht voor de collectie. Een blik naar de bijbehorende code leerde dat alle coins beginnen met de prefix “BNâ€. Dus ik kon zodoende al meteen 90% van de andere codes van het lijstje afstrepen. Er bleven er logischerwijs 4 over, waarvan er slechts één inderdaad de coördinaten bevatte van de door mij gezochte tag. Coördinaten ingevoerd en het blijkt 6 km verderop te zijn. Maar nu had ik een kleine uitdaging. Hoe kom ik daar?! Ik was immers meegereden met Me’Laine die inmiddels met haar dochter zelf op jacht was naar een tag. Gelukkig wilde Roykuh wel als taxichauffeur optreden dus snel richting de auto, die zo’n 800 meter verderop geparkeerd stond. De spanning stijgt natuurlijk, want met zo’n relatief eenvoudige opdracht is het voor de hand liggend dat ik wellicht niet de enige ben die voor deze tag gaat. Onderweg richting de tag rijden we achter een andere auto die er behoorlijk de sokken in heeft. Spannend of die ook richting de tag gaat. Het kan ook iemand zijn die hier dagelijks rijdt natuurlijk. Gelukkig, de auto slaat af, een andere richting in. We komen steeds dichterbij en stuitten op een wegafsluiting. Verdikkie.. dat wordt omrijden. Gelukkig niet al te ver en niet veel later staan we bij een bijzonder beeldje. Tijdens de rit had ik de symbolen bij deze listing bestudeerd en zag een symbooltje met een kampvuurtje. Zouden we vuur nodig moeten hebben om een eventuele behuizing te openen? Zoiets heb ik namelijk in het verleden al eens moeten doen. Ik stap snel uit en ga bij het beeldje op zoek. Goed kijken natuurlijk, maar ik zie vooralsnog niets. En al helemaal niet iets wat ik moet doen met een eventueel fikkie. Dan kijk ik onder het infobord bij het beeldje en daar zit iets onder getaped! YES HET IS DE TAG! Super Happy natuurlijk en snel rijden we terug naar het event. Daar zelfs voor een heuse televisiecamera de bijbehorende coin uitgereikt gekregen. Daarna komt het met bakken uit de lucht. Het regent heel hard, maar gelukkig is het knus in de tent waar andere teams lekker aan het kletsen en/of puzzelen zijn. Om 23.00uur is het mooi geweest en weer tijd om richting huis te gaan.

249 - Sticky Bat De log... Ik vertrek al op tijd richting het event, ben zelf een half uur te vroeg aldus de navi. Het event begint pas om 17u. Als ik over de dijk rij zie ik dat er al een aantal auto's voor het event geparkeerd staan. Ik besluit een stukje om te rijden en te kijken of ik mijn auto erbij kan zetten en zo ook met de neus richting de weg te kan staan. Als ik de weg in rij richting het event staan er borden langs de weg. Deze staan nog opzij dus kan er makkelijk door. Ik denk nog logisch dat ze de straat afsluiten. Als ze hier wat willen gaan organiseren. Terwijl ik de straat ben ingereden spot ik een dikke blauwe kabel die gespannen zit tussen 3 bomen... ik kijk eens goed en tot mijn verbazing spot ik een vleermuis. Deze hangt alleen op een dusdanige hoogte dat ik er niet zo bij kan zonder trap op klim spullen. Laat ik mijn klimspullen nou net meegenomen hebben in de hoop dat er een T5 boom tag online zal komen. Al snel haal ik de spullen uit de auto en begin ik mijn werplijn de boom in te gooien om zo vervolgens mijn klimtouw in de boom te krijgen en naar de tag te klimmen. Ik merk dat wanneer ik mis gooi en de werplijn over het dikke blauw touw loopt dat dit niet een gewoon touw is maar een dik elastiek. Ik kan zo de elastiek met vleermuis eenvoudig naar beneden trekken. Als ik de tag in handen heb komt er een jongetje voorbij gefietst die mij nog vrolijk gedag zegt, ik groet hem netjes terug. Als ik de spullen aan het opruimen ben komt de jongen weer voorbij gefietst en weer groeten wij elkaar. Dan besluit ik mijn auto maar op de parkeerplaats te zetten. Als ik vervolgens op het einde van de weg ben zie ik dat de borden ineens midden op de weg staan. Dan valt het kwartje... dit jongetje ging de straat dus afsluiten😄. Onderweg naar de parkeerplaats zit ik met een dillema de tag claimen om 16.30 of gewoon netjes wachten tot het event begint en duidelijk is wat ik eigenlijk voor deze tag had moeten doen om scheve gezichten te voorkomen... ik besluit het 2e... als het event dan begint en ik de QR-code scan is eigenlijk nog niet meteen duidelijk waar we nu de puzzels kunnen vinden. Als dit probleem opgelost is zie ik dat de tag die ik gevonden heb gewoon een tradi tag te zijn en snel claim ik mijn vonst. Maar als ik vervolgens de coördinaten check waar deze tag zou liggen kom ik helemaal ergens anders uit! Ik vraag het na bij het event en vertel ze eerlijk mijn verhaal. Wat blijkt, de coördinaten in de listing zijn niet juist deze liggen in of tegen de speeltuin aan. In iedergeval niet op de coördinaten waar ik deze tag gevonden heb. Deze lag dus gewoon langs de weg opweg naar het event maar de andere kant op. Al met al dus gewoon vette mazzel gehad met het spotten van deze tag. Bedankt voor de tag een het organiseren van dit event!

I never received the notification about this last hide, but saw it on the map of posted locations. Upon arrival, I saw I wasn't alone, so made a quick dash to the spot. The two of us arrived at the same time, and then it was on to see who would spot it first. After a bit of searching, saw the bat's clever hiding spot and made the claim of the find. Wat was het leuk vandaag de vossenjacht op het tagsylvania event 🦇! Eerlijk gezegd had ik niet verwacht dat het zou gaan lukken vandaag, met al deze Hunters die op zoek gaan naar 7 tags. Ik zat in de race voor 2 tags. De eerste was bij Aurelia en Ademaro. Ik had hun al gelijk gespot, maar zij mochten pas een tip geven om 12.00 uur. Dus tot dan maar op weg om anderen te zoeken, de tags waren immers nog niet online. Na een half uurtje rondrijden geen andere vossen gezien, dus maar terug naar A&A. Toen het 12.00 uur was kreeg ik mijn tip. Het was een kaartje met een soort sterretje er op. Ter plaatse goed gezocht maar het wilde niet lukken. Toen kwamen de tags online....een coördinaat dat 500 m weg lag bij waar ik zocht. Daar aangekomen was GPSanne al aan het zoeken. Na een tijdje gaf ik het op en besloot toch terug te gaan naar de eerste plek. Na een paar minuutjes kwam GPSanne hier ook zoeken en zij vond m. Gefeliciteerd!!! Maar wel balen natuurlijk. Gelukkig bleken de coördinaten van Butch hier ook in de buurt te zijn en die was nog niet geclaimd. Ter plaatse stond er al iemand in de auto....maar nog zonder tag. Op GZ gezocht en ik vond een foto van Butch met een code. Toen ik links begon te ontcijferen las ik succes....Dan maar aan de andere kant beginnen. De eerste woorden vertelden me dat ik een munt binnen een straal van 5 meter van het bankje kon vinden. De boel was al flink door voorgangers platgemaaid zag ik, maar toch blijkbaar niets gevonden. Toen viel mijn oog op een houten schijfje dat onmiskenbaar een vleermuis had ingebrand gekregen, toen ik deze omdraaide. Yess! Nu weer naar de auto de rest ontcijferen. Ik moest Butch zoeken op het event en bij hem in de buurt zoeken naar de tag. Daar aangekomen stond er een heerlijke oogballensoep voor me klaar. Yesss! Hebbes!!! Zo blij! Heel erg bedankt voor dit leuke event en de mooie tag!

Deze gevonden op het leuke event in Rockanje. Het was onze eerste, dus we moesten uitzoeken wat we überhaupt moesten doen. Eenmaal op de plek aangekomen, begon het zoeken. Een tijd later kwamen ook anderen mee zoeken. Na een lange tijd vond ik hem en wat was hij goed verstopt! Leuk om dit eens mee te maken! Volgende keer komen we iets eerder zodat we het event zelf ook iets langer kunnen meemaken. Bedankt voor de leuke dag!

Welkom in het wondere land dat Tagsylvania heet! Tagsylvania, Hongaars voor: Sighisoara, land van Dracalu en herkomst van bloeddorstige vleermuizen. We nemen je graag mee in een kijkje in deze wondere wereld in de omgeving van Oostvoorne. Dit event staat in teken van Dracula en de invasie van de vleermuis (zogeheten tags). Let dus vooral goed op waar je kijkt, loopt, vist, waadt, klimt of graag je naam achter laat! Het regent vandaag bloederige tags en bijtende vleermuizen. Door de vele indringers vandaag hebben de bewoners van Tagsylvania schuilplekken gezocht in de regio. Ze bewaken hun kostbaarste bezit. Bloederige tags. Tagsylvania is een mooie maar oh zo angstaanjagende regio, mede dankzij de vele inwoners die Tagsylvania huisvest. Zo lopen er de meest rare wezens rond. Sommige van deze wezens hebben een speciaal item in handen, die ze maar al te graag bewaken. Ergens rond de 16e of 17e eeuw heeft er een zuivering plaats gevonden in de regio Tagsylvania. Een eeuwenoud collectief, genaamde de ‘Snaggers’, hebben eind zeventiende eeuw flink huisgehouden in Tagsylvania. Beter bekend als de reinigingsperiode der Tagsylvania, Snaggers hebben hun oog gemunt op de vleermuis-tags en jagen er flink op. Van de vele honderden vleermuizen die zich gehuisvest hebben in Tagsylvania zijn er niet veel meer over. Door verschillende ‘clans’ en personages zijn er slechts nog twee handjes vol over, en worden deze nog altijd beschermd en bewaakt. Let wel, dit gaat over de laatste eer die beschermd wordt door de verschillende clans. Het kan zomaar zijn, dat.. mocht je gaan jagen, er nog een speciale opdracht overgedragen wordt. Immers, is het een van de laatste en je krijgt zo’n vleermuis natuurlijk niet cadeau! Aan u de schone eer om tijdens dit event (let op de tijden, want zoals een elfje haar bos beschermt vliegen de vleermuizen ook op tijd er vandoor!) op zoek te gaan naar de verdachte personages uit Tagsylvania. Mocht u een Tagsylvanian tegen het lijf lopen in je speurtocht naar een van de bijtende vleermuizen, wees dan wel zo vriendelijk. Een goed geheim in de familie geeft zich namelijk niet zomaar prijs, en een bloederige tag bemachtig je alleen op een intelligente manier! In Tagsylvania leven veel mysterieuze wezens in harmonie samen. Trollen en elfjes leven onder één dak. Maar als je dacht dat dit het meest onmogelijke is wat je ooit hebt gehoord, luister dan goed: In dit gebied vind je de musketier Papigrapi en de assassin Shadow. Met vier handen op één buik maken zij dit gebied onveilig met hun streken. Zij leven hier samen met de vele vleermuizen die hier rondvliegen. Maar de geruchten vertellen dat zij ook beschermers zijn van de bijzondere Tagsylvaniaanse tags. Ga op zoek naar Papigrapi en Shadow en stel ze de volgende vraag: "Heeft u gezien waar een vleermuis waakt over een tag?" Wie weet helpen ze je wel om de tag te vinden. Het event waarbij deze tags online kwamen stond al op de planning, net als de andere drie events door het land heen. Om die reden is er voor dit weekend een Tesla geregeld, niet alleen voor de vleermuisjacht maar ook om de afstanden tussen de events door heel NL te overbruggen. Als de tags online komen sta ik al 1.5 uur te blauwbekken in de kou in m'n toverpak, daar ik last-minute werd gevraagd om te helpen en bij te springen als vos. Nice, er zitten ook twee puzzels bij naast de vossen.. daar kan ik wel wat mee. Een woordzoekertje en een doolhof, welke beiden tijdens het vossen worden opgelost. Nu de locaties van de vossen schijnbaar ook bekend zijn word ik niet al te veel later ook gevonden, waar ik op zich wel blij mee ben omdat ik na 2 uur blauwbekken compleet zeiknat geregend ben en zelfs een paar keer ben omgewaaid. Nadat er een hyperactief Geitje de boom in is geklommen voor de tag, besluit ik zelf maar een poging te wagen bij de puzzels omdat die zelfs een flinke tijd na uitkomst nog steeds niet geclaimed zijn. Na een kort ritje met de Tesla (awesome!), sta ik in de buurt van de eerste puzzel die ik opgelost heb. Ik kom op een toepasselijke locatie uit, maar voor vandaag even genoeg foto-momentjes gehad. Ondanks dat ik hier in m'n eentje sta te zoeken, ben ik aan alle voetsporen te zien zeker niet de enige geweest. Zou de tag toch weg zijn? Toch nog even snel kijken of ie al geclaimed is.. nee dus. Toch maar verder zoeken dan, maar oh zo veel verstopmogelijkheden. Op de meest voor de hand liggende plekken hier is het al platgewalst, dus daar zal ie dan wel niet liggen - als ie er überhaupt nog ligt. Dan blijft er eigenlijk maar één plek over, en dat is de boom. Een klimboom is dit zeker niet, dus dat zal wel een hengel-tag zijn en dat beperkt ook weer wat mogelijkheden. En dan na flink omhoog turen moet ik ineens denken aan Willy Wortel met z'n bril-ruitenwissers uitvinding, dat zou wel handig zijn geweest vandaag. Ha, ik zie hem! Maar ships, daar kom ik niet bij zo, zelfs niet met m'n toverstaf. Even snel naar de auto voor de hengel om hem er uit te vissen. De beheerders (?) van 't centrum keken al lekker raar op; zo'n tovenaar heen en weer rennend door de regen en dwars door de plassen.. maar even geen tijd voor uitleg. Na een sprintje heen en weer naar de auto, waar zelfs de snelheid van de Tesla niet tegenop kan, sta ik bij terugkomst weer in dit heerlijke weer onder de boom en is de tag er zo uitgehengeld. Oeps dat ging nog maar net goed, want de tag hing al los aan de vleermuisjes. Awesome, tag gevonden! Nu snel terug naar de auto voor nog een verkleedpartijtje maar dan met droge kleren en eindelijk richting het event. Hider bedankt voor deze gave tag en vooral het gave event!

Op naar het event en misschien kans op een tag. De verrassing was groot toen ik een mooi boekje in mijn hand kreeg gedrukt met aanwijzingen voor de tags. Al snel vertrokken auto's....ze gingen linksaf...ik dacht ik pak rechts. Ineens zag ik Auralia en Ademaro staan. Stoppen en op hun af. Van alles geprobeerd om een hint te krijgen, maar ik moest geduld hebben bleek later. En dan komt ie online...effe doorgelopen en gaan zoeken. Niks...Inmiddels begreep ik dat ik een kaartje moest ontvangen en toen nogmaals naar de eerdere plek gelopen. Na wat omzwervingen en goed zoeken vond ik de tag! Yes!! De vleermuis was nog niet gevlogen! Super bedankt voor deze mooie tag en het plezier dat ik heb gehad!

GegeitðŸ Geit ging vanmorgen met 500C 🚗 naar Tagsylvania 🧛ðŸ»en het hemelwater 🌨kwam met bakken neer in dit gebied. Het leek wel betoverd!🧙ðŸ»â€â™‚ï¸ Ook kwamen er vreemde wezens tevoorschijn 🧛ðŸ¾â€â™‚ï¸ðŸ§â€â™€ï¸ðŸ§ðŸ»â€â™‚ï¸ðŸ§™ðŸ»ðŸ¥·ðŸ»ðŸ¦¸ðŸ»en die sloegen wartaal uit. Misleidend of toch niet? Geit heeft even in een bos gedwaald 🌳🌴🪵🎄🌲voor 12 uur maar net er na kwamen er wel 10 noodkreten. In paniek rende geit het bos uit en sprong in haar 500c pfff welke vleermuis 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇sonar vangt het geitenoortje op? Het blijkt de samuman 🥷ðŸ»te zijn. Hij was steen en steen koud 🥶maar kon nog met moeite iets brabbelen over een V boom met een vastzittende vleermuis en een ladder... tja daar heeft geit geen tijd voor! Ze sprint naar de boom en beklimgeit de desbetreffende boom. Ja hoor die arme vleermuis was achter een spijker blijven hangen en fladderde lusteloos 🦇aan de boom. Even een hoefje uitsteken en het diertje raakte los. Daarna moest geit de Samuman 🥷ðŸ»nog redden! Hij was volledig verstrikt geraakt in zijn Tabberd in een poging warm te blijven in het hondenweer. Daarna ging deze samuman er als een haas vandoor om ook een vleermuisje te gaan redden. Hopelijk is het de arme samuman gelukt... Brrrrr gelukkig had geit ook nog een extra vachtje mee want de eerste was doorweekt!🥶 GeitðŸ is terug gekeerd naar het stadshuis waar meer vleermuis redders zich hadden verzameld! Hier kregen de redders een ere medaille uitgereikt💪

Banzai! Driemaal is scheepsrecht! Nu ik met pech langs de kant van de weg sta kan ik de log ook wel schrijven (ANWB is onderweg). Diverse tags online zien komen de afgelopen dagen maar geen gelegenheid/te ver/moeilijk. Zo stond ik donderdagavond achter Dennis in Aalsum en gisteravond achter een groep van 5 hunters bij Wijckel en viste ik beide keren achter het net. Vanochtend wilde ik om 08.00 uur op het werk zijn en dat ging ook wel lukken, als er geen tag online kwam. Want dat had ik inmiddels al wat uitgesloten en dat het zaterdag/zondag racen wordt. Maar...toch nog een tag online in Friesland. Gelukkig lag mijn decoder nog beneden en had ik al snel door welke frequentie het was: Futurama. Binnen 5 minuten stond het coördinaat op papier en weg was Sjouke. Zonder ontbijt, zonder koffie. Heb tenslotte toch genoeg spek om mijn lijf. Het zou een spannende race worden naar de grote oren bij Burum...zou ik er nog op tijd zijn? Op de laatste kilometer zie ik nog een auto voor mij rijden maar die rijdt 'mijn punt' voorbij en dan weet ik dat ik snel moet handelen. Maar gelukkig...het gecamoufleerde doosje spot ik direct in de boom en met de knijptag is deze er ook zo uit. Banzai! Ik heb hem!! Team van NFCE: bedankt en tot morgen op het event. Ik ga ervanuit dat de Peugeot het dan weer doet...

First time find! We were looking at the nearby event for tomorrow and started reading about this game. We still weren't sure what it was or how it worked but we made an account and set up our alerts. Before logging out, we decided to dig around the site a bit. That was when we found this tag showing as still available down on the Suwanee Greenway. So despite the dark, misting rain, and the late hour, we headed out. We've run by this spot a million times so we knew where we were headed but we really didn't know what we were looking for. A quick call to Beldredge though and we had all the G2 we needed. Made quick work of the tag once at the box. Can't wait to redeem it tomorrow for the coin!

Looked on ground in between sign and car and spotted it in a bunch of mud! Removed bag, dried it off and it looks amazing. Whew! Seen this was still unclaimed while I was at work. Kept my fingers crossed that I would get there before it was gone. Had everything go wrong trying to get to it including my phone dying. Luckily I know where it was and didn't get discouraged. Got to the place and sure enough the bat was still in the bell tower.

Fortunately I had a steak in my back pocket (sirloin,) and I was able to kill her with it....this is strange because I always felt I was a pretty good cook, but it killed her anyway! Slayed it! Er....snagged it! When I finished work today and saw that this bat had been roosting for over 8 hours, I knew it wouldn't be much longer before darkness was upon us and he would take a more sinister form. Vamp-kit in hand (just in case), I set off on my quest for "The Batton in Patton". Arrived to an appropriately-spooky location and began my search, soon locating the bat in his friendlier form. However, a real bloodsucker tried to catch a ride with me back from GZ, so I'm wondering if he didn't transform after all... Thanks for the fun, see you on Saturday!

I had already seen the first one come and go this evening but new that a second was due. With the first being nearly an hour and 20 mins drive and knowing to other cachers were actively staying in the area for the event, i knew my chances were slim. Qhen the second went live, i checked it's location and it was only a 45 mins drive from me! I could make this! I was in the car without hesitation and was soon on the motorway driving towards GZ. As i was driving, a message flashed up! "Dont even try it" it read.... It was from one of the other hunters and they were closer than i was. A quick phone call to one of them and they confirmed that they were about 12 mins away where i was still 18 to 20 mins away. Heart sinking i said no problem and was about to turn off when they said that as they were in the area and this was my golden opportunity they said they would let me grab it! It was back on! I still knew that other's may be in the area so i pressed on quickly. Soon i was at GZ but couldn't quite find my way in. Despite having a search light and torch the path and gate remained elusive. I walked round the park for twenty minutes waiting for other torch lights to suddenly appear, when i spotted it! In the day light i am sure this would have been an easy spot but in total darkness not so much. I was quickly in the field examining the ruins looking for the 3d model, when a sweep with the spot light revealed it's location. I ran over and was on my hands and knees in the cold wet grass looking underneath for the tell tale sign of a bat.... I spotted a glint and i had it! A huge thank you to those who have made this game a success and a thank you to the individuals for allowing me to grab this. 🙂

3 Times the Charm. Took 3 attempts before we located the elusive bat. Made first attempt when the bat first came out at 8pm. I was in the park but on the wrong end raced to the other side and went down the trail but was unable to make the find. Decided to go home to get some sleep and try again at 6AM while still dark. Rolled out of Bed at 6AM to make another try again no dice. Decided to make one more try in the afternoon to find this elusive bat and this time after a long extended search we captured the Bat and brought him home. This was the first time I have gone out at night to make a find hopefully I will get better at this Night stuff. Anyway It was fun. Thanks to the hider for the adventure.

De week van 🦇🎃Halloween🎃🦇. Een nieuwe Snag the Tag met andere regels. Iedereen is enthousiast en kijkt er naar uit. Het wordt een druk maar gezellig weekend met markt en events voor ons. De laatste 4 tags na Alkmaar worden verstopt. Simone vertelde dat in een FB reactie tegen Jeroen die samen stond te zoeken met Heracross. Dus hebben we nog kans. #128 wordt door Team Vriesman gevonden. Yess!! Goed gedaan Emil. De felicitatie-app gaat eruit. Wat een verhaal! #130 wordt gevonden door DeBoerMuskee. Jeroen, wij kennen je alleen via de FB-STT. Maar zeker gefeliciteerd en hopelijk zien/spreken we je zondag op het: 🦇Snag the Tag - Wieringer Halloween Event🦇 van De Bosmannetjes en Team DIGIdog. #396 wordt gevonden door H.P.M. Jeetje wat een kruip-route. Goed gedaan. Tja, dan is er nog maar 1 over.... Onze jacht begint donderdag avond. De spanning begint nu bij ons te komen. We zijn aan het brainstormen wat de kronkels van de hiders kunnen zijn. En dan zie Patrick opeens een patroon. Dus dan komt de laatste in regio Hoorn. We gaan googelen of er dingen/straten/beelden zijn die te maken hebben met 🦇🦇🦇. We vinden een vleermuizen opvang in Midwoud. Dat MOET gewoon de laatste locatie zijn! Na wat heen en weer gebakkelei, stappen we in de auto richting Midwoud. Eigenlijk klopt het niet zeggen we in de auto, want er is al een tag uitgekomen. Maar de drang om toch die kant op te rijden is groter, want je vergeeft het jezelf nooit... Na een tijdje besluiten we om terug te rijden naar huis, want de wekker gaat vroeg. De vrijdag gaat langzaam voor mij gevoel, Ik ben er met mijn hoofd niet bij en ga met gierende banden van de NS naar huis. Om daar snel te eten, om te kleden want we gaan naar de Halloweenmarkt. Patrick houd niet van markten, maar omdat deze echt gezellig is gaat hij voor mij mee. 2 jaar geleden hebben we hier onze Feed the Zombie-Tag gevonden. Dat was ook een heel avontuur met waakzame bewoners. Het woord TJOP TJOP gebruiken we nog steeds. We struinen de markt af en komen diverse teams tegen uit de buurt tegen eo. We worden uitgenodigd om op de koffie te komen bij De Bosmannetjes want daar zijn ook: Team DIGIdog, Jukebox-83, Bregtje1988, TeamHagelslag. Het is erg gezellig en we kletsen er allemaal op los. Totdat Roos mij een app van Nick laat zien. Een tag is online gekomen. We kijken elkaar aan, en ik vlieg omhoog. Ik zeg SORRY maar ik moet even jagen. Ik loop de tuin uit en ga snel alles lezen. Roos en Bregtje lopen met mij mee. Patrick weet ik niet waar hij is, maar ik had even 1 doel. Op GZ zie ik Roos en Bregtje zoeken. Ik loop naar de groene brievenbus en vis daar 1 puzzel uit. De andere 3 leg ik er weer in terug. Kak een rebus, Roos komt erbij staan. En ik zeg: Pak je eiges! Hahaha even geen GEOdinnetjes tijdens een jacht, sorry 😊! Ik zeg de woorden tegen Patrick. En die typt hij in zijn telefoon: codetrickortreatlocatietuinmark... en Patrick rent weg. 😳 Ik hobbel/ren zo snel mogelijk terug. Sjips ik ren verkeerd. Ondertussen belt Patrick mij voor de laatste rebus woorden. Ik zeg parklaan 23, NEE zegt Patrick ik vind niets. Dus ik krijg een flinke error in mijn hoofd. En maak zo goed mogelijk een foto die ik via de app stuur. Ondertussen ben ik ook aan het zoeken in de voortuin. En aan het zoeken en zoeken, zelfs de waterput wordt geopend om te kijken. Vanaf verlichte hoogte kijkt Patrick op ons neer, ook hier geen vleermuis. De buurt blijft naar ons kijken en (uit)lachen, en vragen wat we aan het doen zijn. Maar ik heb net als Patrick, Bregtje en Roos errorrrrrr..... Ik bel aan en niemand doet open. Patrick is al in de achtertuin bezig met zoeken, en als ik Simone spreek omdat niemand de voordeur open doet (Goed volk komt altijd achterom ðŸ˜) En voor ik nog iets kon vragen of zeggen heeft Patrick de Tag in handen. Jeetje wat een hunter-stress heb ik. Het zweet gutst van mijn gezicht en lijf! Ik heb nog steeds error. En voorlopig blijf ik alles afspelen in mijn hoofd. Eenmaal iets gekalmeerd, realiseren wij dat er nog een Tag uit was gekomen. Maar dan in Friesland. We lachen en beginnen te puzzelen. Totdat Patrick tegen Roos en Bregtje zegt: puzzelen kan in de auto! Voor ik het wist geeft Patrick onze ladder met Mark mee, en rijdt hij weg met de 2 dames! Ik ga niet mee, maar puzzel door. Ook al hebben ze de uitkomst al, blijf ik het leuk vinden om de puzzels te begrijpen. Nog voor ze van de afsluitdijk zijn wordt de Tag geclaimd. Jammer, bij Zürich keren ze om en voegen de drie zich na 45 minuten bij ons in de tuin. Helaas, natuurlijk willen we de dames ook aan een tag helpen. Dus zullen we blijven hunten voor ze. Rond 02:00u lig in in mijn mandje alles opnieuw te beleven. Dit is de tweede tag waar we voor hebben moeten "strijden". Maar we hunten liever SOLO! 🤣🤣🤣 Bedankt voor deze mooie hunt en de 🦇Tag als 1e prijs!

Couldn’t believe this one was still available today. After finishing some work this morning I headed south. When I arrived I searched for several minutes. It was the morning after trick-or-treat, so there was bound to be leftover candy and - a bat. Ted drove through the gloomy morning to a usual parking area, where Maggie, the GPS unit, said that the bat was over there a bit. We moved to another parking area that was new to me. RDJ-Pup guarded us against the eerie morning spooks. We all traipsed along the muddy trail. Ted spotted something and rescued Bump, the bat. We'll give him a good home, unless the cats are involved. There be active ticks, indeed.

Out driving with Die Feldermaus this evening, trying to catch up with some of his friends. Die Fledermaus Landed in a drink and decided it beat to avoid flying solo. Surprised to see that the park was still open at the time we stopped by, but found the gate open and still within open hours per Google. ^_^ A very nice change from another recent attempt to catch some bats tonight! I must be batty to have searched for this in a torrential rainstorm with an tornado warning added to the mix 🤪 Very awesome Cemetery I pass on a regular basis while working nearby. We'll have to come back and pay my respects to the residents who has been laying there to rest for quite a while now.. did not have any paranormal incidents like I did up in Kittery Maine. Wat een leuk avontuur zo op de avond. Eerst kwam ik op de kerk in de stad uit (volgens Wikipedia) maar die heeft geen kerkhof. Nog eens kijken naar de foto en daar stond een naam op, die was snel bekeken. 23 min rijden nog… wagen we het er op? Er wordt al druk gekookt maar dat duurde nog drie kwartier dussssss….. Eenmaal ter plaatse was nog niemand te zien en reed ik steeds verder de griezelige oprij laan op. Even zien en bingo! Yes! Na 2 eerdere pogingen mag het dan nu zo ver zijn. Terwijl ik alle tape aan het verwijderen ben en net de de code aan het invullen ben en een foto maak kwam er nog iemand de oprij laan aanrijden. Het bleek Sjouke te zijn, even een praatje gemaakt en toen beide onze weg weer vervolgd van dit griezelige pad weer af

When I saw the location was further away, we went back home as it was further out and I thought for sure others would get there before us. Then as I worked all night I saw this go unclaimed. I woke up early and decided since still not claimed I'd give it a shot. 30 minutes later I had the bag in hand! Thank you for the opportunity!

Yes, gevonden rond 6:50 uur. Afgelopen woensdag las ik op facebook dat Simone dinsdag 2 TAG's had verstopt. Voor mij de trigger om toch het alarm voor het uitkomen van nieuwe TAG's te activeren. Even goed gekeken of ik enige logica kon vinden in het online komen, maar die logica zag ik niet 123. Gisteravond al de boterhammen gesmeerd voor vandaag en ook gelijk het brood voor het ontbijt klaar gemaakt. De wekker iets eerder gezet dan normaal. Vanmorgen om 5:00uur ging de wekker af, hop eruit, even douchen, aankleden, koffie drinken en klaar zitten en wachten maar. Rond 6:00uur bekijk ik de STT pagina en ontdek een nieuwe TAG op een voor mij wel erg bekende plek (ooit heeft hier een cache van mij gelegen en met de STT serie van Sherlock Holmes had ik in deze tunnel een tussen punt gemaakt). Ik stap in de auto die standaard vol is geladen met geocache tools en rijd in ca. 18 minuten naar het parkeer coördinaat. Daar aangekomen lees ik de pagina even door en lees dat de vleermuis zich had verstopt in de tunnel (dus met de boot omdat dat sneller is dan met een waadpak lopen in het water). De pomp aan gezet om vervolgens de boot op te pompen. Ondertussen de werkkleren ruilen voor kleren die wel vies mogen worden. En dan met boot en zaklamp naar het begin van de tunnel. De boot te water, op de knieën in de boot en varen maar. Het begin van de tunnel was anders dan de vorige keer dat ik hier was. Hop, de tunnel in en ergens onder de middenberm van de A7 vind ik het plankje wat normaal gesproken aan het begin lag van deze tunnel. Op dit plankje was de vleermuis vastgemaakt. Nu weer snel terug naar het begin van de tunnel (achteruit varend). Als ik weer op het vaste land ben laat ik de boot leeglopen en is er tijd voor het claimen van de TAG. De werkkleren weer aan en in de auto richting kantoor, waar ik om 8:00 uur een vergadering heb. Onderweg in de auto nog even contact gehad met het thuisfront over mijn avontuur van deze morgen. Ook nog even kort contact gehad met Simone. Mark en Simone bedankt voor het verstoppen van deze tag en tot zondag. Groet H.P.M. (Sietse)

Got it! More later! My wife had the calendar marked for the start of this tag event. Decided we would have been beat out to the first few tags posted from this particular hider - and we were correct. My wife was meeting friends on Tue night, so I thought maybe that night. But then, the day was gloomy, cold, and damp. My arthritis was acting up, which made my mood even darker. I was missing her and was vacillating between going and not going. Finally, decided on a drink and a movie. When that tag came out, I was not surprised by the general location, as we had noticed a trend. After she got back home, I found out that she had dressed in layers and had planned to meet me out wherever. By that point, we decided it was too late. Normally, Wed night we watch Survivor, because my wife is a HUGE fan, having watched the show from the beginning thru 41 seasons! Imagine my surprise when I got home from work to have her suggest we go see how the stars look in the night sky at Mendon Ponds Park! What, you thought we were going after the tag tonight? ;) REALLY, I replied? Are you SURE? So, we looked up and printed a map of a certain area. We added an extra layer under our caching clothes. We actually remembered our headlamps, too! We drove up, spotting MANY deer along the way, as well as several in the park. We had chosen a particular area and were surprised to see no other car sitting there. Had we guessed wrong? Time would tell. At least, we had service - 4G, 1 bar for me and 3G for her. Had time for the GPS to find satellites as well as to don our headlamps. Finally, the phones beeped. We were 4 minutes away, just around the corner. As we drove there, more deer placidly watched us go by. As we made a turn close to a parking spot, we saw a car - and our hearts raced! Had someone beaten us here? Or, was Igator watching for visitors? We got out and started to head one way. Then, we thought about a cache or two we had gotten over here and changed direction. After a few minutes, I was pretty sure we were headed the right way. My wife was still unsure, until we took a couple of right turns and her phone updated to us being less than .2 miles away. Gushy path in spots. Chose one side, then the other, then back. As my GPS beeped and we saw we were less than 15 feet away from GZ, we started to search for tacks. My wife spotted them and we turned that direction. I thought I had spotted the hiding spot and reached for a large branch end leaning against the tree, when I spotted something large and hoary - not the bat, but a good sized wolf spider was guarding that tree! As I was carefully investigating my chosen location, my wife walked around the tree and spotted something about the same height, but opposite from me. I walked around and breathed a sigh of relief - there was the tag! YIPPEE! Yes, we removed the tacks. I LOVE my new GPS, that has maps which show some paths, the terrain, and of course, I have the footsteps feature turned on as well. So, we had no trouble returning back to the beach, where I actually had us turn off our headlamps to look up at the stars! See, told ya we were out star-gazing! ;) On our ride back home, drove a little bit under the speed limit, as we spotted more deer, especially near the park, plus some fog, which just added to the night!

Made the drive. More later. Later: Woke up early this morning, and a bit after 7:00 AM decided to check for new tags. Low and behold, there was one within reasonable distance: #156 - Batty at Crescent Lake. After a few minutes of "Should I stay or should I go..." I prepared a cup of coffee to go and headed out. Less than a mile from home, I got a call from the wife that she left something at home that she needed at work. After the rescue mission, I rechecked the listing and it was still available, so off for Crescent Lake I go. But when I get there, refreshing the app showed it was claimed. So what to do next? After another few minutes of cogitation, I decided to head for a cache in Everett. Heading west on Hwy 2 I noticed the sign for HWY 9 said Granite Falls, and I remember there was another tag released there! So I pulled off the highway, checked for availability, and the rest seems rather obvious now, doesn't it? Thanks for hiding!

Having seen the general area map in the Facebook group earlier in the week I have been heading out towards the naval base for the last few nights after the kids were asleep to try my luck at snagging a tag. Parked up a short distance away and waited for the new tags to pop up on the map, when they came up luck was on my side tonight and I got the jets going as much as possible… so many stairs. Went back and forth along the track a couple of times before finding a path in and set about the search. Lots of little nooks and crannies and I eventually spotted the case I’ve been waiting for. Thanks to the hider, look forward to collecting the coin at your event on the weekend. Now to get my wind battered body back to the car.

Ik had al wel gezien dat er drie events enorm uit mijn richting zijn. Het event het dichtst in de buurt heeft veel tags die tijdens het event uitkomen…. En veel will attents. Kortom de kansen deze ronde achtte ik niet heel erg groot. Tot mijn verbazing komt er een in Ede uit. Huh dat had ik niet verwacht. In eerste instantie op streetview gekeken of het Wageningen of Lunteren moest zijn. De borden in Wageningen zitten aan lantaarnpalen en in Lunteren vond ik dit soort. Ik was al onderweg tot ik mij realiseerde dat dit misschien niet de puzzel was maar er meer bij de foto’s zat. Dus bij Kesteren maar even de auto langs de weg en nog een extra check. Zie je wel er is nog een puzzel. Gelukkig herken ik de weerstandscode direct. Alleen had ik geel genomen. Hmmm met een 4 kom ik veel te oostelijk uit dan moet hij dus oranje zijn met een 3. Eerst op het coord kijken misschien heet het hier wel allemaal vleermuislaan. Ik kom uit bij garageboxen en het begint me toch wat onwaarschijnlijk te lijken. Het zal toch niet dat ik een fout gemaakt heb? De boom, vleermuizen hangen in een boom en er staat een boom niet al te ver van mijn nulpunt. Niets. Hmm lantaarnpaal dan? Ah een electischetijdskastje in de bosjes. Zou kunnen. Maar eh wat ligt daar voor ranzig doekje??? Eerst dat vieze ding ff opzij gewerkt en kijken, nog eens kijken. Ja dat lijkt verdacht veel op een cache dus dat moet hem zijn. Snel openen en yes! Hebbes! Ik zit net goed en wel in de auto als ik een ander team aan zie komen. Pfffjiewie net op tijd dus. We kletsen even wat en dan komt de vraag welk event hoort erbij? Eh zover had ik nog helemaal niet gekeken haha. Ik had eigenlijk helemaal niet verwacht dat het zou lukken maar ik ben in ieder geval super blij. Hider hartelijk dank.

Got it, more later... Having to work till 10 Pm and knowing that these publish at 8 PM, I really did not think I would have a chance to find one. However it had been down pouring all day, and was still raining when I got done at 10 PM. Checked and still no finds, debated for a few then headed out solo, April said no way she was going to bed. I almost went bump in the night a few times as the zombie deer seemed to be all over the place and were running across the roads in many places. When I arrived at the park I could not believe how dark out it was, had a hard time finding a trail even with a bright flashlight. When I finally reached ground zero, the park had an eerie look and feel to it, the rain shimmered off the trees, and the only glow I could see was not fire tacks, but deer eyes staring at me in the night. I know I had hiked this section of the park before but in the pitch black darkness it seemed so unfamiliar. I must have circled ground zero for a good 45 minutes, and thought that maybe someone had already beaten me here, but check my phone and saw no logs yet. Decided to make one last pass, afraid that if my flashlight went dead, I would be screwed finding my way back, I was an idiot and forgot a back up one. Finally I spotted two orange glowing eyes staring back at me that were not like the deer ones. I approached and spotted something on the ground, picked it up and there was a huge slug on it, dropped it immediately. The area was crawling with worms and slugs! Knocked them off and finally had the prize bat in hand, along with a bonus pathtag! I had circled so many times that I had lost my sense of direction, luckily I was able to bring up a map on my phone to make sure I was heading back to the road. I actually came out on a different trail and had to back track to find my truck, cannot believe how dark it is out tonight. Many thanks to hider, for this great twist of using fire-tacks in the woods, certainly was an adventure, got back home just before the stroke of midnight! Hopefully owner will save the tag for me as unfortunately we will be heading south this Saturday to our cabin in TN, and them hopefully finishing our Jasmer in Georgia next week.

Couldn’t ask for a morning and area more deserving to search for Bats.. Rainy, Windy, Leaves blowing and a Bat hidden close to the Haunted Livermore Cemetery.. Woke to a map showing three possible bats within striking distance, but this one was the closest to home and a well known stomping ground…Arrived within twenty minutes of publishing and targeted the posted picture area to start my search..Took a minute to locate but excited to do the dance when I opened the container and a bat flew out..Sure glad I scored , now I can get back to sleeping in the rest of the week…Thanks for the hide

Vanmorgen weer op tijd wakker om naar het werk te gaan,. Eerst ff mail bekijken en ja hoor een vleermuis die in de toren bij de haven van den oever is gestrand. Snel de jongste dochter uit bed gehaald voor haar school en toen in ons batmobiel gesprongen. En op voor het avontuur. Op de haven geparkeerd waar het nog geheimzinnig donker was. Gelukkig goed licht mee om op zoektocht te gaan, tijdens het heenlopen de zaklamp nog uit om de batterij te sparen en al turend op mijn telefoon richting het nulpunt. Onderweg nog een hekje tegengekomen waarvan ik eigenlijk wist dat deze daar staat maar nu toch voor een blauwe plek heeft gezorgd . Vlakbij het nulpunt de zaklamp aan en op zoek. Omdat de toren in het verhaal stond wist ik gelijk waar te beginnen en na een 5 min zoeken had ik hem te pakken. Heerlijk die gezonde spanning van het zoeken naar een vleermuis. About 7 minutes after this posted, mid-dinner and mid bite, we checked the page and saw this tag posted. We instantly jumped in the car with Geopup Dubs in tow and drove all the way from Medical Lake, biting our nails the whole way as the number of people watching climbed higher and higher. We had one car that seemed to follow us all the way up, just to turn off about 100 yards from GZ but we felt quite competitive with them thinking I was another cacher! Once on site in the darkness, we searched and scrutinized the hint provided. Were we overthinking it? Was the hint more abstract? The picture was pretty broad... FINALLY, after 10 minutes of searching in the sticks, leaves, and trees, we laid hands on this bat and snagged the tag! Bonus was a fantastic view of the city lights up here! â¤

Well well well, looks like I bumped into the right spot at the right time this night. I was super pumped about the event, and I knew I had to try my hardest to get my hands on one of these tags, since the last couple of Snag Tag events, I missed out a bunch. Things were aligning great today, less hw than normal, getting out of work early, and my sister having practice nearby. I studied the event cache page and snag tag page and I put a ton of things together in my head. With some extra time on my hands before the publication time, I thought “screw it let’s just go to Mendon early, and try out my luck†Arrived exactly at 8pm, and when the notification went off, I struck gold! I could not believe this tag was still here after being here for 2 days already. So now it is flying home with me to attend the Chattanooga area geocachers bump in the night event at dread Hollow. As I'm sitting here logging this a carload of geocachers pulled up and I watch them go look sadly I had to tell them they were too late so I beat them by just a matter of minutes. Als om 18.02 deze tag online komt, hebben we net het avondeten op. Ik zit met een behoorlijk ziek zoontje op de bank en hij valt van ellende tegen mij aan in slaap. Ik besluit hem maar naar bed te brengen, want dit is ook niks. Een goede 5 minuten later plof ik dus op de bank en kan ik een blik werpen op deze puzzel. Ik had eigenlijk helemaal niet in de planning om te gaan hunten voor deze tags. Met slechts 4 events in NL, waarvan de dichtstbijzijnde op 1,5 uur van mijn huis, acht ik mijn kansen zeer klein. Daarbij komt dat ik met m'n zwangere buik steeds minder mobiel wordt en gekke capriolen als ladders, bomen klimmen en hele routes lopen nu gewoon niet meer lukt. Maar toch is er iets met deze puzzel wat mijn aandacht vasthoudt. De opgave lijkt simpel. Zoek de code van de emoticons, stapeltellen, som maken en hup het coordinaat zou er moeten staan. Maar net als in de comments ook al aangegeven, loop ook ik vast bij de U+code. Ik probeer het nogmaals, gebruik alleen de letters, alleen de cijfers maar toch lukt het niet. Nogmaals lees ik het stukje tekst. Hmmm....je kan dus ook een andere code gebruiken, alleen vind ik die nog nergens. Dus hup Google weer aangeslingerd en dan vind ik een site waar de HTML codes van alle emoticons bij vermeld staan. Die maar eens proberen. De eerste emoticons gezocht, stapeltellen en als ik de som dan invul komt er een coordinaat tevoorschijn. Nu ben ik in Friesland niet zo thuis om te weten of dit een beetje plausibel is, dus ik zoek het met Google maps op. Ik kom ik Bolsward uit en in eerste instantie lijkt mij dat niet juist. Midden in het centrum, bovenop "bebouwing". Even de kaart aanpassen naar satelliet beeld, inzoomen en dan zie ik het puntje voor een kerk staan, bovenop fontein "de vleermuis"! Kan niet missen!! Even snel overleggen met manlief, hij wil wel thuisblijven en op ons zoontje passen. Het is ruim een uur en 15 minuten rijden, maar als de eerste mailtjes binnenkomen dat men niet uit de puzzel komt, geeft mij dat toch weer hoop. Ik besluit in de auto te stappen en toch een poging te gaan wagen. Onderweg is het rustig en ik kan lekker doorrijden. Aangekomen in Bolsward, parkeer ik de auto voor de kerk, even gauw een rondje om de fontein lopen en dan valt m'n oog op een ruimte aan de voorzijde. Gebukt onder de vleugels van de Vleermuis tast ik de ruimte af. En dan! Het bakje met de tag komt tevoorschijn! Wauw! Nooit gedacht dat ik deze tag nog zou vinden, er zijn er maar zo weinig van in NL. Super blij mee, het was het hele avontuur zeker waard!

Wow, a super fun evening!! We noticed the tag published and thought, “no way are we going to a bat cave in the middle of the night to find a tag!†Kim Well…maybe… 15 minutes later we were in the car using echo location to find our way to the bat cave. Of course we let the sponsor know we were heading out. As we arrived in the parking lot…YES, the parking lot is empty! We loaded up on flashlights…and…UGH, another car is pulling into the lot!!! I said, “Quick, let’s get on the trail!†Then the pick up truck gave a nice little friendly beep. I guess we should say hello…sigh. Oh…wait…I know that person…it’s our local Bump in the Night sponsor!!! Looks like we have an escort to the bat cave (and a photographer too!) Thanks for a great evening!!

Volwassen kinderen, maar toch hebben ze hulp nodig, dus om half 12 zondagavond op carpool Houten om dochter op te pikken van een weekendje Parijs. Onderweg naar huis ging de telefoon wel af, maar er waren genoeg verhalen om aan te horen, dus ik had er geen aandacht aan geschonken. Thuis aangekomen even op de foon kijken en het bleek dat er 20 minuten geleden (precies middernacht) een Tag was gepubliceerd op 26km van huis. Even de listing lezen en deze leek speciaal voor mij geplaatst: "Hoog in de boom". De afgelopen jaren scoor ik op 80% van de T5 boomklimcaches in NoordHolland de FTF. Voor alle zekerheid de ladder in de auto en op pad. Kwart voor één parkeerde ik de auto op 10 m vanaf de tag en daar stond al een auto. Er werd ook al in de bomen geschenen, dus even kijken wie het was. Het bleek Jeroen, die was al ruim een kwartier uur aan het zoeken met een kleine zaklamp en hij had een keukentrapje in de auto. Dus even mijn zaklamp er bij op volle sterkte dus de boom op het nulpunt was meteen volledig verlicht, samen even speuren, maar niets te herkennen niet rond 10m hoogte, maar ook niet op echte hoogte (20+, het was een erg hoge boom), dus even de naastgelegen bomen bekeken en Jeroen mijn reserve zaklamp uitgeleend. Intussen waren we al een kwartier bezig en ik denk, laat ik even vanaf onder langs de stam kijken. Dus in de bosjes rond de boom en dan valt mijn oog op een klein houten boompje tegen de voet van de boom...uiteraard was dat de tag en het klopt: bovenin de boom (maar voor iedereen toegankelijk). Om kwart voor 2 lag ik in bed......sweet dreams.

Couldn't make the fall games night event yesterday due to another commitment, but we figured that a tag or two would publish around PDSP today. Sure enough, we saw the notifications for not one, but two tags around the park! Admittedly, it was kind of a gamble--especially with any cachers who camped and stayed the night. We went after this one, having been up here years ago for a now-archived geocache. It was a pleasant hike to the top, and we were greeted with a nice view, a glass pendant, and a very awesome looking bat tag! As you can see from the one photo, Good Boy really enjoyed the vistas. Can't wait to see everyone at the event next week!

I saw this hide publish and headed out to try to find a bat. There were many trees that matched the picture and I almost did go batty before I was lucky enough to finally find this bat. Two visitors to the cemetery watched me search the trees and asked if I was a tree inspector. I told them I was on a scavenger hunt and they laughed and wished me luck. Thank you for hiding this tag in this spooky place. I'll see you at the event !!

We zitten voetbal te kijken. Uiteraard ons voor te bereiden op een avondje Max Verstappen en een spelletje te spelen. Echte zondag invulling en dan….. een mail…. In onze achtertuin?!?!? En dan ook nog een nachtcache, onze persoonlijke favoriet. Tja dan moeten we. We pakken snel de zaklampen en de fiets en met 4 minuten zijn we er. Voor ons is een team net begonnen en we zien al snel de eerste needle. Samen met het andere team vinden we de eerste tot onze wegen ons op een gegeven moment scheiden. Zitten we verkeerd? Je word toxh een beetje fanatiek natuurlijk. En nee toch niet. We blijven ze vinden. Gelukkig voor ons bekend gebied (onze labcache ligt hier) kiezen we voor de logische route en na een half uur komen we tegelijk aan bij het einde. Ik zie met de zaklamp ineens het kruis en snel daarheen en voor ik het weet hebben we het doodskistje in onze handen. En ja hoor we hebben hem. Hiders bedankt!!!

After I saw this publish I felt this little guy needed a warm place to call home. So I set off and swooped in to save him. The desent wasn't too bad but trying to navigate my way back up the was a bit tricky. The cold wet leaves and moss posed a challenge. Nonetheless I made my way back to the bat mobile and got him to his new home safely.

2WMN got it! We waren voor enkele caches en boodschappen onderweg naar de binnenstad, popt er een bericht op: ‘Tag online’ De afstand tot wp. 1 was één kilometer, dus het loont zeker om even langs te fietsen. Daar was de puzzel in de etalage snel gevonden, leuk dat de ondernemer hier in meeging. Maar enkele seconden later was daar ook DennisNL, op zijn scooter! De puzzel was makkelijk op te lossen en we komen hemelsbreed 2.5 km. verderop uit, nabij de grafheuvel in het Leeuwarderbos N 053° 13.406' E 005° 47.738' Shit! over de weg was het wel bijna 4 km! We fietsen een stukje in de richting en dan worden we voorbij gestoven door Dennis roepend ‘See you later!’ Gezien zijn snelheid, voorsprong en fanatisme besluiten we om het tag avontuur te laten voor wat het is… we maken onze geplande caches af en lunchen lekker op een terrasje, heerlijk in het herfstzonnetje! De tag staat hadden we wel even in de watch gezet en merken dat het nog niet zo makkelijk is om de dwalende geest te vinden. We besluiten 2 uur later om er toch maar even te gaan kijken, maar eerst moest er nog een badmat gekocht worden. Nadat deze is aangeschaft lezen we de WN van Dennis dat hij na dik 2 uur zoeken gewond naar de dokterspraktijk moet voor een wond aan zijn voet. Maar we lezen ook dat de tag er nog moet zijn volgens de hider… We trappen nu dus maar even flink door! Aangekomen bij het bruggetje zien we een paar bloedplasjes, het past wel bij het thema maar het lijkt wel erg luguber. De bovenkant sluiten we uit want die zal wel al goed gecontroleerd zijn door onze collega. We focussen ons op de onderkant en na even op de buik gelegen te hebben zie ik vlot een zwart plakband pakketje links vooraan onder de brug, zou het..? Na even omlopen een beetje hangen aan 1 hand, met de andere grabbelen en daar heb ik zomaar de dwalende geest in handen! 🦇🦇 Dennis beterschap, hopelijk valt de verwonding mee!
